Meet May’s Ernestii cactus

Aloe there plant lover! Barry’s Cactus Club may make your day because May’s box has a cactus that is sure to prick your interest. This time, we have the lovely Ernestii Cactus! (Mammillaria backebergiana Ernestii)

Ernestii starts off as a globular, teeny tiny cactus, but he grows up fast! This lil guy develops to take on a more columnar shape and can grow as big as 30 cm tall. His tall, thin shape at full growth means that he can be prone to falling over in his pot, but can be propped up with a wooden skewer to keep him standing tall and proud! Native to Mexico, Ernestii is no stranger to heights as his kind can be found on cliffs over 1500 meters above sea level!

The Ernestii cactus is just one of the wonderful cacti that has featured in the Barry’s Cactus Club subscription. Each month brings a unique species of cactus from tropical deserts to your door! Find out more by checking out our Barry’s Cactus Club blog!

Smells like Spring

Barry has teamed up with the local bees to give you a gift you won’t soon forget - A beeswax taper candle! The candle has been handmade in Leicester from 100% pure beeswax. Here are a few cool features that make this candle very different to just any old candle.

A warm, earthy scent
Light this candle and you will be welcomed with a warm, sweet and subtle scent of honey. Its perfect to have while meditating or doing yoga, or just as a cute touch to the dinner table as its soft scent won’t overpower the aroma of your food.

Good for the environment
With the candle being made of 100% beeswax making it quite possibly the greenest candle you can burn. Beeswax is a natural and renewable resource crafted by the local bees and is loaded with health benefits.

Clean burning
The magical properties of beeswax means that this candle is free from synthetic fragrance oils, toxic chemicals and paraffin. Beeswax burns with very little black smoke or soot, helps to purify the air in your home and aid wellbeing.

Enjoy for hours!
This candle burns slightly differently to your usual paraffin candles because they can last much longer as the beeswax is a hard type of wax which burns slowly.
