Meet June's Jade Money Tree

Meet June's Jade Money Tree

The cactus club is back and there’s a new plant waiting to meet you! Good fortune awaits you plant lover, as June’s Barry’s Cactus Club box contains the Jade Money Tree! (Crassula Ovata)

She features thick, green leaves which emerge in abundance from her branches, making this month’s mystery plant a succulent! Curious about what makes her a succulent? Check out our cactus vs succulent blog. The quirky name for this plant refers to how she is said to bring wealth, prosperity, and good luck.

She is a sun-lover and will feel right at home on a sunny windowsill or sundrenched desk. Keep your new gal pal hydrated during the growing season by using the soak and dry method, which you can find out more about in Barry’s watering blog. In the wild, the jade money tree survives with little water and full sunshine making her a low maintenance plant perfect for beginners!

Keep your new Jade friend well out of reach of your furry friends as she is considered toxic to cats and dogs, the most common symptoms are vomiting, lethargy, decreased appetite, and stumbling. If your furry friend ingests your Jade plant keep a close eye on them and see your vet for advice.

Seeds Bee-utiful seeds!

June’s gift from Barry is a selection of wildflower seeds! With over 25 different varieties of seeds, this sachet of goodness can help you transform your garden into a safe haven for butterflies and bees. You will not only have a beautiful bed of plants, but you will also be providing plants rich in pollen and nectar that bees need to survive! Add these seeds to window boxes, plant pots or across a whole garden.

Get these bad boys planted in your garden with these simple steps:

1) Clear a small patch of your garden to create a fine layer of topsoil. Use a rake to loosen the soil.

2) Sprinkle the seeds over the patch of soil evenly.

3) Lightly rake the seeds into the soil to make sure they are nested into the ground.

4) Keep the soil well watered right up until you begin to see your wildflowers bloom in full colour!
